1.Caring for the global environment
①Climate change countermeasures (decarbonization)
We support the international goal of reducing CO2 emissions to net zero by 2050, and we will be addressing the medium-term target as an ongoing issue. To that end, we are promoting energy-saving measures in our offices and factories, such as transitioning company cars to eco-friendly models, switching to LED lighting, and upgrading to air conditioners with advanced energy-saving performance. We are also taking measures to reduce the cooling load in the summer and reduce CO2 emissions by applying thermal barrier coatings to factory buildings.
We have concluded a lease agreement with a solar power generation company, which will use land owned by our company in Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture to operate a solar power plant starting in May 2024.
②Achieving a recycling-oriented society
In 1974, we became the first company in Japan to import and sell wastepaper compression and packaging machinery (baling machines), and now we manufacture and sell machines that compress and package not only wastepaper but also waste plastics, plastic bottles, and other recycled resources. Compression packaging enables more recycled resources to be transported to processing plants in each shipment, and improving transportation efficiency allows for significant reductions in fuel consumption. The problem of marine pollution caused by plastics is an issue that demands immediate action, and we expect the recycling market to expand. Going forward, we will make environmental recycling a larger proportion of our business by continuing to develop business activities with the keywords environment and recycling, to contribute to the recycling-oriented society.
③Reducing environmental impact through product use
Enhancing the functionalities of the plastics widely used in packaging has contributed to the reduction of food loss and the improvement of energy efficiency. As packaging machinery manufacturers, we have taken the lead in developing technologies that respond to these advancements to address social issues. However, while the volume of convenient plastic packaging material consumption is increasing, the movement to eliminate plastics is rapidly intensifying with concerns about environmental pollution on a global scale due to the low reuse rate and the discharge of plastic waste into the oceans.
As such environmental problems worsen, more and more customers are seeking to reduce plastic emissions and minimize the negative impact of their business on the environment. We are contributing to their promotion of sustainability by developing technologies that enable our packaging machines to switch from plastic to paper packaging materials.
tam has also joined the Clean Ocean Material Alliance (CLOMA), a platform for accelerating innovation through collaboration among a wide range of business operators across different industries, with the aim of solving the problem of marine plastics.
